Newsletter - Look of the MonthShabby Elegance
This look is all about picking pieces
that feel unique to your space, and adding in your own style.
You
can
mix old with new, contemporary with traditional, and it gives a real
feeling of enduring elegance. This is a great way to match family
heirlooms into your schemes easily, or even just helps with bringing
your own character out in the space.
It can also be as expensive
or cost
effective as you like - as you can source items through second hand
stores and update them to make them your own.
I have found some great peices on the high street that will
work well and given you ideas for how to use them effectively in
your home - I hope you enjoy trying out some of the ideas here -
feedback is
always welcome - especially if you want me to concentrate on a
specific
theme for the next newsletter!
This mirror is from Laura Ashley (click on it for more details) - it would look really striking on a feature wall - use it somewhere where you have a large expanse of wall thats bare - it would work really well on a very dark background (deep purple, red or blue - or if you are very adventurous black would work fantastically!) - as it is large then try and work it so that you can see it from a distance as well as up close (i.e. on a wall that can be seen directly from the hallway)
This object is from John Lewis. Its a fantastic peice that would look great in many situations. As it is light in colour it would look great as a statement peice on a mantlepeice infront of a darker wall (a feature wall of a block colour would work best so that it would stand out). It would also work really well on a window will - one item by itself will give more effect that lots of little things. It has the older fashioned feel by the distressing on it, and would therefore link the old with the new, as this look does.

This sofa is absolutely right for the shabby elegance style. Luxurious leather but with a slightly worn look to it it would fit in traditional and contemporary rooms. I like the leather on this as it gives that luxury feel - completely different to the very shiny new leathers that so many shops now offer, This is available to buy direct through me (along with a huge range of other sofas so if you are looking for anything in particular then just ask!) - so please contact me for more details.
